Three Must-have Items for My “Okatazuke”

Today, I would like to share with you my three most basic items for tidying up.

Item No.1: Curing Tape

First, curing tape. This is a must-have item for cleaning up. If possible, use white. It will not stand out too much and will go together well with the surroundings.

The advantages of curing tape are:

  • the price is cheap
  • easy to peal off
  • can be cut by hand
  • can be cut to any size

If you know these advantages, you no longer need to buy expensive label stickers or masking tapes. For instance:

When you have a trouble of sticking with a rough surface, use curing tape as a base for labeling, the label will be less likely to peel off.

Use as a temporary label when the contents may change. You can peel it off without leaving a mark.

For things you seldom need, you may keep adding them in one place. Use the tape everytime you do that, and you will always knows where and what.

Linens and futon covers are always a trouble in the closet, because they are that are difficult to label, use the tape on non-woven fabrics, labeling what’s inside.

Item No.2: Magnet

Item #2 is a magnet.

There are many types of magnets in shape. Some are hooks, shelves, and some are pocket-type containers. If you use them in right places, you can make things that used to be difficult to use easier to use, create unexpected space, or make cleaning easier. And your place will be more comfortable!

Recently, you will see magnets of large load capacity. For instance:

This was sold in the bath accessories section as a stand to hold shampoo and conditioner.

I used that as a shelf for salt and sugar pots in the kitchen and now I have some space next to the stove!

I’m really a magnet person! I use magnet holders for kitchen paper roll, tissue box, and for plastic bags.

BUT! From a standing position, they don’t show that much.

Item No.3: Film Hook

Item #3 is film hook. And this is my latest favorite.

It’s a kind of stress the suction hooks tend to fall off after a while, or is it just for me? The film hooks are so strong that no matter how many times you remove and reattach them, they retain their initial strength, and they leave no marks.

Cleaning around the wash basen is now easier by hanging the cup with a film hook.

The space for the toothbrush stand is no longer needed by tucking away the toothbrushes inside the mirror door.

The dog’s bag for morning and evening walks is now on the closet door. It is ready to use more than before. I got rid of the hanger poles I used to hang it on, and now I have more space in my room.

In the space under the kitchen counter, I used two hooks to hang a small basket to hold dog’s cleaning supplies which I used to place on the floor. Now, I can vacuum clean the space easily.

See? If you change your point of view a little and use these items according to your space, you will be more comfortable for sure. Please try and create your own spaces!
